Nine days before elections, re-electionist Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron hit his opponent and assured his supporters of their slate’s victory.
Bayron’s supporters packed the City Coliseum on Saturday, May 4, 2019, which is considered as one of the biggest Kuridas Team’s political rally.
“Ngayon lang ako nakakita ng ganito karaming tao sa Coliseum,” Mayor Bayron said.
He is confident that with the overwhelming support of their supporters, this will translate to landslide win of the entire slate of the Kuridas Team, with Bayron, his running mate Nancy Socrates, congressional aspirant Atty. Gil Acosta Jr., and the 10 candidates for city councilors.
He turned tables to former Mayor Edward Hagedorn, whom he still considered as his real opponent this time in a proxy political battle. Though, he did not mentioned names, he explained that his opponent, Vice Mayor Luis Marcaida III, was backed by Hagedorn.
Bayron defeated Hagedorn’s wife during 2013 elections, and in 2016, in a face off with Hagedorn, Bayron emerged victorious. In a recall election in the city between the two opposing camps, Bayron defeated Hagedorn.
“Dapat nyang tanggapin na nakalipas name talaga ang kanyang panahon. Wala na syang kayang ipanalo. Tatlong beses na nating tinalo ang Mayor ng dalawampong taon at ngayong darating na election, ay tatalunin natin sya sa pang-apat na beses,” he said.
He further said that he inherited a financially-exhausted city coffers when he assumed office in 2013 with P600 Million cash deficit, P34 Million payable to Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) and P60 payable to various suppliers.
He ask his supporters to give their slate a sure win as he promised to continue his administration’s projects especially roads in the barangays.
Bayron during the political rally also endorsed five senatorial candidates, Cynthia Villar, Aquilino Koko Pimentel III, Ronald Bato Dela Rosa, Christopher Bong Go and Francis Tolentino.
