Chinese escapee rearrested

A Chinese businessman apprehended with 326 others for alleged illegal cyber activities was rearrested a day after he managed to escape on September 26 in Barangay San Miguel, Puerto Princesa by Western Command operatives and Bureau of Immigration officers.

Tony Tan was among of the 327 apprehended by the joint units of Bureau of Immigration – Manila and Intelligence Service Armed Forces of the Philippines or ISAFP last September 16, 2019 but managed to escape the custody of Bureau of Immigration at Bgy. Bancao-Bancao Puerto Princesa City.

Lt. Col. Stephen Penetrante, WESCOM Spokesperson said, Tan is now in the custody of the Western Command while others are still in the detention facility of the Bureau of Immigration.

“Tony Tan is in custody of the operating units of Western Command… ‘yung mga kasama niya is still in detention place of the Bureau of Immigration,” Penetrante said.

The detained Chinese nationals are still being processed and will be turned over to the Bureau of Immigration in Manila.
