The City Council approved a resolution requesting the National Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) COVId-19 to allow commercial flights in Puerto Princesa only during daytime starting July 1.
City Councilor Atty. Nesario Awat, told Palawan Daily News (PDN) Tuesday, June 9, this resolution is aimed at giving the city frontliners at the City Health Office (CHO) the chance to rest during nighttime. They asked that flights be only done from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Kasi naniniwala ako, siyempre mahaba ‘yong 24-hours ‘diba, pero bigla na lang may darating sa gabi lahat nasu-sorpresa, so in short, baka ‘yong ating mga personnel sa city health office mag-collapse dahil na-overwork,” said Awat.
“Alam naman natin limited lang ‘yong number of workers diyan. So in short ‘yong naging idea ko ay daytime,” he added.
Atty. Awat said also provided in this resolution, along with the request that the flying hours be done only during daytime, is a mention that commercial flights start by July 1.
He said this is to align the plenary’s collective resolution to their earlier request to allow commercial flights at PPIA only past June 30.
“Tsaka para naka-focus na from that period of time [of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.]. In other words pagkatapos ng alasais [ng gabi] wala ka nang iisipin na mag-PPE ka,” said Awat.
