The City Environment and Natural Resources Officer, Atty. Carlo Gomez, urged the public anew to do simple things for the environment like planting trees, avoid buying products packed in single-use plastic packaging, and help get rid of single-use plastic in the environment.

In his message during the Earth Hour 2023 on Saturday evening, he underscored the importance of every individual’s responsibility to Mother Earth beyond the hour.

Earth Hour is an annual event campaigns for the switching off of electric lights for one-hour which the scientists described that it has allowed the Earth to breath due to the reduction of power consumption for an hour.

What is more important is our responsibility beyond the hour.

A few years ago, the City Government of Puerto Princesa already started the implementation of the City Ordinance No. 993 that regulates the use of single-use plastic and styrofoam.

He said that the public can contribute significantly to the environment by performing simple things everyday, like picking solid wastes in public places and participating in tree planting activities.

Gomez said.
