The newly-acquired thermal scanner of Puerto Princesa City will start its full operation starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3, at the domestic arrival area of the airport.
Dr. Ricardo Panganiban, chief of the City Health Office (CHO) told the media in an interview Monday the scanner is part of the local government’s preventive measure against corona virus disease 2019 (COVID 2019).
“Nai-i-scan niya kahit na ‘yong grupo [ng mga tao], lilipat-lipat lang siya. Halimbawa tatlo kayo magkakasabay, una kang nai-scan, kapag okay ‘yan lilipat siya. Kapag siya kunwwari nakuha, mag-a-alarm siya. May spotter,” said Panganiban.
“Bukas gagamitin na natin. Kasi hinihintay lang po namin na ma-orient ‘yong mga nagdu-duty doon kasi siyempre isasalpak mo sila doon. [It will be operational] from the first flight in the morning hanggang sa last flight in the evening,” he added.
Panganiban said the thermal scanner costs around P1.5 million, which is the latest model so far.
He said two CHO personnel will be in-charge daily in operating the thermal scanner.
He added the personnel were further trained Monday, March 2, on how to properly use the machine.
Panganiban said the thermal scanner was delivered in Puerto Princesa last week of February.
“Sinubukan na namin sa domestic noong Friday. Kaya lang pinull-out muna namin kasi siyempre hindi pa siya secure doon. Siyempre kapag nag-pull out kami, sino ang nandoon, ‘di ba. Inaayos namin nang husto ngayon with CAAP para kapag mag-pull out kami, at least ma-endorse namin sa kanila,” he said.
