Docto formally assumes PSU presidency; vows excellence

Vowing to steer the premier state university in MIMAROPA region to excel in science, technology and innovation, Dr. Ramon M. Docto finally took his oath as the 8th Palawan State University (PSU) President on October 24, 2018.

In his investiture rites, Docto announced his goals and visions for the university on his term and said that PSU is expected to excel on the fields of science and technology while gaining values and positive characteristics.

“PSU is expected to generate new knowledge and its application, train and nurture to become professionals especially on the well-generating fields of science, technology and innovation. This should be done without losing values, social consciousness, concern for the environmental, deep sense for others and accessibility to those who needed most,” said Dr. Docto.

He added that PSU is also expected to provide fully-equipped and knowledgeable graduates who are highly competitive. “Among the goals and vision, is to expand PSU in the creating, verifying, applying and disseminating knowledgand technologies, producing globally competitive graduates, fully equipped with knowledge, skills, attitude and habits that is responsive in the workplace and beyond.” Dr. Docto said that the success of PSU will be through his “4’R’s” technique which means Retain, Revise, Reject and Renew.

He also mentioned some indicators of success after his 4-year term, which includes effecient administrative services, more capably recognized research and extension and other more. “PSU to be more capably recognized in terms of instruction, research and extension… PSU will have excellent and top performance on licensure examinations, succesful employment and succesful entrepreneurs and capacity to improve community status as leaders,” said Dr. Docto.

The investiture was also attended by some government officials, congressman and university officials and guests from other universities and academe.
