Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron said that he instructed the City Planning and Development Department (CPDD) headed by Engr. Jovenee C. Sagun to prepare the city’s recovery plan for the economic upturn of the city, once the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) will be lifted by April 30, 2020.

The recovery plan will contain necessary interventions while towns and cities will start to bounce back after it experience dormancy, in due time, when the ECQ are lifted and the economic activities are already back to normalcy.

The plan will also contain information on how the city will gradually re-open and resume economic activities which was disrupted last month, since the implementation of the Luzon-wide ECQ that include Puerto Princesa and Palawan.

“Ang reopening ng Puerto Princesa City ay ito yung pinakahihintay ng mga kababayan natin. Ang City Planning ay inutusan kong maghanda ng Covid Recovery Plan. Plano kung paano natin unti-unting buksan ang ekonomiya ng Puerto Princesa sa tamang panahon,” Mayor Bayron said.

While, the anticipated lifting of the ECQ by end of April 2020 is approaching, but the City of Puerto Princesa will not be complacent but rather, it will further strengthen its prevention measures to avert any possible entry or contamination within the locality.

“Wala munang commercial flights habang may nagbabadyang outbreak sa ibang parte ng bansa. Paigtingin natin ang border checkpoints,” Mayor Bayron said. “Ang tanging laban natin dito ay prevention na wag itong makapasok sa ating Lungsod. Wag na wag nating balewalain ito,” he further said.

Other measures undertaken by the city government, include the disinfection of the container vans containing cargoes from Metro Manila, more aggressive testing to all patients under investigation (PUI) now referred by the Department of Health (DOH) as probable Covid case.

To proceed with a more aggressive testing, Mayor Bayron said that they intend to procure some 2,000 units rapid Covid-testing kits approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Recently, Mayor Bayron cancelled the quarantine pass of all residents of Barangay Mangingisda, and placed the entire barangay under lockdown, after its residents violated the protocols of the ECQ. The measure is part of the city’s stringent procedures to strictly prevent Covid-19.

“Ang Lungsod ng Puerto Princesa ay agresibong haharap sa mapanganib na Covid-19,” he declared
