After more than 4 hours of grueling pageant rounds and almost three months preparation for the road to the crown with venue and date changes, finally last Thursday March 10 the three Queens of Miss Palawan 2021 was officially announced at the Mendoza Amphitheater in Puerto Princesa City.

From 20 candidates, 23 year old Linapacan’s bet Klaidel Hope Anderson Concepcion is declared Miss Palawan Universe. She also bagged the Best in National Costume award. Concepcion is not a Linapacan native, and representing the said island town is a tribute to her former nanny whom she loved dearly. She is a graduate of Public Administration at the University of the Philippines-Diliman campus.

This is the fourth time Concepcion tried to win a crown, she was first seen as a fashionista queen in 2017, a local modelling competition, and later on joined soap pageant Miss Silka and even Miss Earth Philippines, to which she made it as finalist in the same year.

“Very overwhelmed po, struggling po kasi ako sa pasarela hindi ako confident sa rounds ko kanina pero confidence talaga, nag focus talaga ako para masagot ko ‘yung questions nang maganda,” Concepcion said during interview after the pageant.

Taking home the first Miss Palawan-World crown and the first to compete in national this March, is Palawan State University second year Political Science student Jamaica Venturillo representing Cagayancillo. This is the second try for the 20 year old Jamaica in joining Miss Palawan, she was Miss Palawan South in 2019.

“So grateful and blessed, I wasn’t expecting to have one of those crowns, kasi no’ng una sabi ko kahit makapasok lang ako sa top 5, and then no’ng ando’n na ‘ko sa gitna mapahiya ako o hindi atleast binigay ko ‘yung kaya ko,” Venturillo said.

The third crown Miss Palawan-Earth belongs to 22 year old Miss Puerto Princesa 2020 Xenia Ashley Bunio, a Petroleum Engineering student from PSU said that bagging the said title is a dream come true, promoting and advocating conservation of wildlife is her passion in real life.

“I am really overwhelmed right now, super thankful din ako nakakuha ako ng crown ngayon, it’s the crown I prayed before, I hope I could partner with Palawan Council for Sustainable Development, to promote my advocacy and to prepare for Miss Earth-Philippines, it’s the preservation and conservation of Palawan Pangolins, I want it to push if forward, ano kasi parang na-encapsulate niya ang pag promote ng tourism and to raise awareness on the impacts of our lifestyle to the environment,” Bunio explain.

Bagging the first runner up is Miss El Nido Daena Yapparcon, and Taytay’s bet Marie Victoria Torres is the second placer.

The third year staging of Miss Palawan organized by Miss Palawan Charities, Inc was presented with HD quality live streaming in Facebook, over 20 judges were selected to score this year’s pageant headed by businesswoman and social media star Michelle Tiotangco as the chairman of the board, it includes Marvi Trudeau of Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc, Astoria Hotel Manager Joy Suarez, Human Resources expert Barry Sumpio and a lot more.
