Amidst the crisis and lack of finances, Palawan Sound Organization managed to help their members and local musicians in the city through their own pockets.

No budget and no funds but its chairman, Jemphel Regaña started to call out his friends and other musicians to help their brothers in the industry.

“Maganda naman po ang response nila and ‘yung may mga sobra pa is nagbigay ng tulong kaya nakapagbigay din kami sa mga kapwa namin musikero na apektado ng ECQ at kahit hindi sapat, ang importante is meron dahil informal workers sila kaya kung may ECQ, wala din silang gig at ipapakain sa kanilang pamilya,” Regaña said.

Around 50 members benefited the relief assistance from the organization and was hoping to extend more help to other members.

“Inuna lang po namin ‘yung mga may pamilya at single parents then ‘yung mga living on their own at sana lahat mabigyan kung kakayanin po kasi wala din kaming pondo dahil nakilala kami sa mga benefit concerts at pagtulong sa iba pero lahat kasi ‘yun ay sa beneficiary at walang naiiwan sa organization,” he added.

The organization is also appealing help from the government as they were also affected of the implementation of enhanced community quarantine.

“Kabilang naman po yata kami sa informal workers at hindi namin alam kung saan ba kami lalapit para matulungan din ang members namin na apektado ng nangyayari ngayon,” Regaña ended.
