A department head from the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO), who wished not to be identified, received death threats while in a middle of a meeting early Wednesday morning.

The threats were from a caller who identified himself as “Major Ramos” from Palawan Provincial Police Office (PPPO).

In an information given to Palawan Daily News by PALECO, “Major Ramos” called their office in the middle of a meeting Wednesday morning and was demanding to speak with their general manager.

The call was taken by the manager’s secretary who informed the supposed “Major Ramos” that they were in a middle of a department heads’ meeting and that the manager can’t speak to him as of the moment.

According to PALECO, the caller didn’t like that he was unable to speak to their general manager, and from there on, the situation escalated quickly.

“Bigla siya tumawag nasa meeting kami, tapos gusto niya kausapin si Engr. Hindi siya napagbigyan agad, ayun, pinagmumura niya na ‘yung assistant ni manager,” PALECO spokesperson said.

The secretary then entered the conference room and informed them about the caller. The PALECO spokesperson, who wished to be identified only by her designation, retrieved the caller’s number and texted him, informing the latter to call her if he has any concerns over the services of the office, which resulted into another escalation.

“Ni-retrieve ko ‘yung number niya from the secretary. So tumawag siya uli, I put him on speaker. Nagsabi siya na pupugutan niya ng ulo at pakakainin niya ng bala, he was referring to our general manager kasi akala niya ‘yung number na ibinigay ko eh ‘yung kay manager, pero number ko talaga ‘yun,” the spokesperson said.

The PALECO spokesperson reported the threats to 8888, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Hotline and Complaint Number.

She also made a call to PNP Regional MIMAROPA PCSUPT Tomas C. Apolinario Jr., informing him about the incident and that a certain Major Ramos, identifying himself to be personnel from PPO, planted threats to their officials in the middle of a meeting.

“Nagkausap kami tapos ayun nga. I was traumatized, inendorse niya ako kay Provincial Director,” the spokesperson said.

On the other hand, PPPO official spokesperson PCPT Ric Ramos, on a phone interview Thursday night, denied that they have an employee designated as “Major Ramos,” and that he was the only personnel from the PPO who has “Ramos” as last name.

“Actually wala tayong ‘Major Ramos’ sa PPO. Walang ganyang pangalan. Gumagamit siya ng Major Ramos at hindi natin ‘yan tino-tolerate and dini-deny natin dahil wala naman talagang Major Ramos sa PPO,” Ramos said.

Ramos also disclosed that they are already conducting an investigation regarding the incident and that they’ve already made things clear with the PALECO officials.

“Nakipag-usap na kami sa PALECO. Under investigation ang kaso na ‘yan. Totoo na may tumawag, nagmura at nagbanta sa kanila, and yes, nagpakilalang Major Ramos from PPO, but most definitely hindi galing sa amin ‘yan,” Ramos said.

The investigation regarding the incident is still on-going.
