The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is anticipating a boost in tourist arrivals this year as the number of tourists increased from 2017 to 2018.

Elizabeth Maclang, Park Superintendent, disclosed that in 2018 there were 211,830 local tourists and 130,450 foreign tourists who visited the Underground River, while in 2017 there were only a total of 299,340 visitors, both local and foreign.

City Tourism Officer Allen Cynthia Amurao said that more developments are coming to make the tour of the natural wonder with much ease to the tourists. Many of these improvements are now being processed with the assistance of city government.

The City Tourism Office also reported a 20% growth in tourism arrivals in Puerto Princesa City in 2018. The South Koreans topped this year’s list of foreign guests followed by Chinese, Taiwanese, Americans, and British. Some 4 million tourists, both local and foreign, are expected to visit the city by year 2022.
