In a bid to support the efforts of the national government to neutralize the rapid spread of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019 nCoV), the Puerto Princesa City Government has decided to cancel the annual Love Affair with Nature Celebration scheduled this February 14.
Mayor Lucilo Bayron said in an interview with the media Friday, and the move was recommended by City Health Officer (CHO) Dr. Ricardo Panganiban.
“Sila ‘yong mga expert diyan, kaya siyempre sinundan natin ‘yong recommendation. Kaya nag-issue na tayo ng order sa lahat ng mga involved na ika-cancel ‘yong Love Affair with Nature,” said Bayron.
The memorandum circular was released on February 6, addressed to all concerned departments and programs of the City Government, barangay officials, heads of both private and public schools, colleges, and universities, including the non-government and civic organizations, and national agencies in Puerto Princesa.
Bayron made clear that there will be no activities such as mass wedding and tree planting.
However, Bayron said personnel from the City Government will still conduct a tree-planting activity.
“Walang [pag-i]-ipon ng mga tao. Pero ‘yong mga tao namin magtatanim na sila lang,” said Bayron.
