Russian envoy in Puerto Princesa for 13th Euroasia Forum

Russian ambassador to the Philippines Igor A. Khovaev arrived in Puerto Princesa Thursday afternoon to attend the week-long 13th Euroasia Forum on Poverty Alleviation for Children and Elderly Persons.

City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) head Lydia Del Rosario told Palawan Daily News (PDN) Thursday this is the first time the Philippines, specifically Puerto Princesa, was chosen as the venue of the forum.

“In short sharing of practices [ito], ano pa ba ang puwedeng gawin para matulungan itong mga grupo na ito (elderly persons and children). Sa social work practice naman titingnan ano ‘yong ginagawa din natin sa ating grupo,” said Del Rosario.

Del Rosario said 24 head social workers of Russia are attending the forum.

Del Rosario also noted representatives from eight countries—-Russia, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, and Philippines—-are present in the event.

She added individuals from all over the country are also attending the forum.

Del Rosario said this event is a great learning opportunity and exposure on international practices for the around 50 social workers from the city who are attending the forum.

Present also in this weeklong event is Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. (PASWI) executive director Eva Ponce de Leon, said Del Rosario.
