A resolution that seeks to allow the conduct of committee meetings and special or regular sessions through “video conference” was pushed at the City Council.
City Vice Mayor Nancy Socrates, the author of the resolution told the media in an interview Monday she proposed this so it may be applied not only during the period of COVID-19 pandemic, but that it may be included in their house rules as well, should there be a need in the future.
“I’m sure at some point we will have to do that also, so mabuti na, na pormal siyang nakalagay sa ating internal rules,” said Socrates.
“Noong nagpa-tawag tayo ng special sessions for urgent matters, pumunta naman halos lahat so walang naging pronlema. But just if it comes up in the future at least it is already in our house rules. So para no need to discuss kung puwede ba o hindi kasi nandoon na sa internal rules,” she added.
City Vice Mayor Socrates said aside from ensuring health safety of the members of the City Council, video conferencing will allow them join different committee meetings which concurrently occur.
Socrates further said this will enable the members to share their inputs and ideas toward a collegial decision while attending committee meetings that are being done from different locations at the same time.
However, Socrates said these video conferences are not for live streaming purposes.
Socrates added they are also going to share to the public all the necessary parts of the video for their information.
