An increase in the city’s casual and job order (JO) workers’ wages will be effected next year, but the city government is compelled to downsize.
City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron told city officials and city government employees during the flag-raising ceremony that the implementation of the wages’ increase for casual and JO will start during the early part of 2020, but the sad news is that, some of the workers might be affected when the city government will start to trim down.
“Ang JO ay magkakaroon ng malaking increase sa wages at ito ay magsisimula next year,” Mayor Bayron announced.
He said, however, that with the implementation of the increase, other city’s workers can no longer be accommodated for economic reason, therefore, some of the existing workers will have to go.
“Hindi kakayanin kung the same number of JOs ang e-hire kaya pwersado tayo na magbawas at ipapa-intindi naman yun sa lahat,” Mayor Bayron explained.
Presently, the rate of the city’s casual and JO ranges from P225 to P275 per day. Though, it was not announced on how much will be the new rates, but reliable sources said that the expected increase will almost double their current rates.
Each quarter, the mayor issued the appointment for the casual and JO workers instructing them to render their services to a specific office or program, since their wages are chargeable to various existing projects or programs of the city.
