WOW si MOM celebrates Mother’s Day

Spearheaded by JCI Oil Puerto Princesa, “WOW si MOM” is on its 2nd year in acknowledging the importance of mothers with its Mother’s Day celebration activities in NCCC Mall Palawan last May 12, 2019.

The event is in line with JCI Philippines project “Pinay Power” that aims to promote proper maternal health, quality education, gender equality and women empowerment which started last 2016.

WOW si MOM’s highlight was the awarding of the 2nd Gawad Ulirang Ina Award, which recognizes mothers who do a great job in their line of work, promotes community empowerment through advocacies and successfully raising a family.

The Gawad Ulirang Ina awardees were: Angeli Natasha E. Mendoza, Cecilia F. Malolos, Erlinda Ganapin, Floralice Rengel Josol, Jackielyn Soquereta Abela, Lolita C. Yulo, Myrna Barrera Alforque, Roseline Vicente, and Tessie C. Tejada.

The day-long activity started with the “Amos Ta Run Mom”, a one-kilometer fun run starting from Children’s Park, Roxas Street and finishing at NCCC Mall Parking Area. Winning the race was the mother and child duo Ruth Heredero and Rugenth John Heredero, followed by Rosalinda Villanueva and Carl James Bulacan and trailed by Jennevi Romero and Lance Gabriel Romero.

The race was followed by a dance zumba session. The early morning activities aimed to raise awareness on the importance of breastfeeding and a campaign for the creation of the Palawan human milk bank which can save lives of ill babies.

After sweating it out, a “Glam Fair” and “Mompreneur Trade Fair” were conducted for the moms to learn new things when it comes to making themselves look young and beautiful and providing livelihood and business seminar.

The Glam Fair consisted of morning and afternoon sessions on DIY Hair Care and Everyday Hair Style, DIY Make Up Tutorial for everyday look, DIY Nail Care & Nail Art, and Skin Care Tips and Routine.

On the other hand, Mompreneur Trade Fair went on with the “MOMpreneur Talk” which educated mothers on entrepreneurship through livelihood and business seminar led by Natasha.

Aside from beauty and business, there was also a medical mission which provided free check up and consultation which also included freebies and medicines sponsored by HB1 Pharmacy and City Health Office.

The activity sought to provide assistance and importance to the light of homes, mothers.

“It aims to address issues on women’s empowerment, health, livelihood, fitness, wellness, education, pampering mothers on their special day,” said Gilbert Ramoya.
