One of the leading universities in Hainan Province of China, Hainan Normal University is now opening its doors for the second batch of scholars from Palawan as part of the Hainan-Palawan Provinces Sisterhood Agreement.
According to the agreement, Hainan Province shall award ten full scholarships to deserving Palaweños every year starting 2018 until 2022.
The scholarship is for bachelor’s degree, and graduate programs for masters and doctoral.
Furthermore, qualified applicants have to study one year of Chinese language lesson in HNU and take Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK qualifying exam) prior to them formally accepted in their respective programs.
The scholarship starts with the first year of Chinese lessons. The coverage of the scholarship includes full tuition fee, accommodation, monthly living allowance (1200 CNY for bachelor’s; 1500 CNY for masters and 2000 CNY for doctoral), comprehensive medical insurance and one round trip air fare from Palawan to Hainan, China.
Applicants for the bachelor’s degree have to possess a high school degree or is a graduating high school student (currently K12 student), age below 25. Master’s degree applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree and age below 35; and for doctoral program, applicant should have a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree, and age below 40.
Applicants for bachelor’s degree and master’s program have the option take courses and specialization on international education, broadcasting & television, liberal arts, economics & management, information science & technology, physics & electronic engineering, chemistry & chemical engineering; tourism, elementary education, mathematics & statistics, physical education, education & psychology and fine arts. For doctoral program, applicants have the option to pursue specialization on chemistry & chemical engineering and life sciences.
Qualifying exam and initial interview for interested applicants on the scholarship for bachelor and graduate programs are scheduled on February 27 and 28, 2019. It will be simultaneously conducted in the north of Palawan at PSU Roxas and south of Palawan at PSU Narra.
For other municipalities who will not be able to go to the examination centers on February 27 and 28, there will be another qualifying examination and interview on March 4, 2019 at VJR Hall, Capitol Complex, Puerto Princesa City.
Registration will start at 8 am and examination will strictly start at 9 am. On examination date, applicants are required to bring school identification card (ID), one piece 1×1 picture and sharpened pencil and eraser. The examination is free of charge.
After the examination and interview, shortlisted applicants will undergo medical examination and must submit documents required by HNU. Once all requirements have been complied, formal application shall be facilitated through the website of HNU.
Deadline for online application is on April 30, 2019. Those who will be awarded with the scholarship shall leave Palawan late August 2019 and school at HNU starts on the first week of September 2019.
As per the Project Team of the Province, information on the scholarship has been relayed to all public schools in Palawan. Interested applicants are advised to go to their respective schools for more details on the said scholarship.
