A total of 1,000 tree seedlings were planted by the Tactical Operations Wing West (TOW-WEST) at a forest site in Brgy. Montible earlier this morning for the benefit of the critically endangered species of birds, locally known as Katala.
With the theme “Protecting the Nature, Protecting our Future,” the PAF’s unit in Palawan planted Parina, Talu-to, Bayu-so, Kapok, and Gayro/ Banaran seedlings as part of the Wing’s 48th Anniversary Celebration on March 2, 2021.
“The activity aims to protect and conserve the area which is also home to critically endangered species like the Philippine Cockatoo (Katala). It also aims to build a strong relationship and camaraderie with stakeholders by helping hand in hand in preserving the ecology,” according to Sgt. Greta Orendain, of TOW-WEST.
Representatives from Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF), Katala Foundation Inc. (KFI), Kiwanis Club of the Last Frontier, Kiwanis Club Division 4E, Ancient Dynasty Kitchen, Rotary Club of Puerto Princesa, Antonio Bautista Air Base (ABAB) Officers, and EP Ladies Clubs also participated in the said event.
