The Agutaynens from San Vicente will hold a simple but joyous birthday celebration of Barbara Papulan Leido Evio, the oldest living member of their tribe, she will turn 100 this Friday, December 4. Lola Baray is also a social media star wannabe after her dancing video was uploaded in Tiktok recently by one of her granddaughters.
Lola Baray is from Sitio Pinagmalucan of Brgy. New Agutaya, where his late husband Ponciano Adier Evio is a former Capitan Del Barrio of the said place in San Vicente. Even at the age of 99, she is still energetic and her secret for longevity is regularly drinking of coffee in the morning, and eating fresh fruits such as guyabano, banana, guava and avocado, and most of that are just in her own backyard.
According to one of her granddaughters Pinky Leido Evio Dela Cruz, her Lola did a great contribution in making the long beach beautiful as it is today. She did, along with her late husband, plant many coconuts in different parts of the beach that stand still today.
One treats that their Lola is practicing in her regular diet is always eating fish and vegetables, and she never eat goat’s meat ever since.
Since its pandemic, the celebration for Lola Baray will be attended mostly of her relatives and different Agutaynen clan only with all the safety protocols. The biggest catch in her party is the roasting of cow that is raised personally by Baray, it is a family tradition every time she turns a milestone.
For Pinky, her Lola reaching 100 years is something they are proud of, not only as Agutaynen but as a Palaweno. Barbara has three daughter’s namely Letty Cabiros, Tita Evio Dela Cruz and Minda Abejo.
“Isa sa aming karangalan na magkaroon ng lola na nasa 99 na at malakas pa po, siya po ay isang Agutaynen at may matas na dugo sa Leido Clan” Dela Cruz said.
