In an interview with the recently hailed Darling of the Press, Miss Indigenous Peoples’ Mariane Frietz Padpad, said that if given a chance to be this year’s Miss Universe Palawan 2022, her reign would be about debunking the ongoing racial discrimination that is still rampant in the city.
“Patagal nang patagal, mas bumababa ang tingin saming mga katutubo,” she said.
She further recalled how she was once ridiculed about being well-versed in speaking in English which shocked her even more, saying that she is able to study to sustain her educational rights and is known to be very pursuant about it.
“Kung ako man ang mananalo, gusto kong gamitin ang Miss Universe Palawan para ipakita ang ganda at ang yaman naming mga katutubo,” she emphasized.
“Gusto ko maging inspiration sa lahat na kaya natin basta may tiwala tayo,“ the darling said.
“Sa mga kapwa kong katutubo, oras naman natin ngayon,” ending her statement with a passionate stance.
Miss Indigenous Peoples’ charm is one of the 13 candidates who will be walking towards fame on the upcoming February 26 coronation night, each one with the hope that they have what it takes to be this year’s Miss Palawan Universe 2022.
