DYPR, Palawan first radio station is now making a return this 2021 with old brand tag “Aten Dia!”, Palawan Broadcasting Corporation President and the mother of Broadcast in the province Lourdes Ilustre announced it today during her interview via Share Mo Nao program at 94.3 DWIZ Palawan Todong Lakas earlier today, March 29.
According to Ilustre, DYPR’s return will be thru daily newscast program in one local station here as a starter, it will be composed and manned by former DYPR employees that she didn’t name for now.
“Gusto ko kasi maglagay ng newscast na medyo old fashioned, I think that’s what we need now, ‘yung tunay na balita na walang halo, ‘yung facts lang, walang batikos, walang siraan just like the old DYPR culture ang gusto kong mabuhay uli,” Ilustre said.
The airing date and the timeslot is also not announced for now, as per Ilustre at present everything is being ironed out including its legalities and the choosing of people who will be part of DYPR comeback.
“We want to start as soon as possible, but titingnan muna namin ang pilot and check, kumbaga kung ikaw ay may restaurant at may ipapakain, lutuin muna natin, kung kulang sa tamis, alat o whatever, Tama na ‘yun masabi sa kanila na magbabalik ang DYPR, and hopefully maibalik natin ang quality of newscast,” Ilustrte added.
DYPR thru AM station 765 kHz started in the year 1966 operating in their station at Mabini street here in Puerto Princesa, and later on Smile FM came in, come 90’s DYPR get affiliation with ABS-CBN and produce local TV newscast via “TV-7 Balita”. It was 2010 when DYPR bid goodbye in the air and was sold by ABS-CBN.
