Former ABS-CBN Palawan Anchor Jay Zabanal joins Palawan Daily as News and Current Affairs Head

Locally-known TV and radio anchor Jay Zabanal joins Palawan Daily News as its head of the news and current affairs department beginning January 1, 2021.

Palawan Daily News is a broadcast and online media company based in Puerto Princesa City.

Prior to joining Palawan Daily News, Jay was with ABS CBN Palawan from January 2012 until its closure in August 2020 due to the Philippine Congress’ denial of its mother company’s franchise renewal in July 2020. He was the OIC-News Head for TV 7 Palawan, home to TV Patrol Palawan and Program Director for DYAP 765 Abante Palawan, ABS-CBN’s local radio station. He began his career in journalism as a field reporter, and went up the ranks to become Desk Editor. He anchored TV Patrol Palawan, Radyo Patrol Balita, a morning radio news program, Abante Palawan, a radio commentary on local affairs, and Piring ng Hustisya, a program that tackled laws and legal issues in partnership with IBP Palawan chapter.

Under his direction, TV Patrol Palawan became a Finalist in the Best News Program category for the Gandingan Awards in 2013. It received the award for Special Citation for Best Regional News Program in 2014, then was awarded Best News Program in 2015. He received the Gandingan Award for Best News Anchor that same year.

Jay Zabanal who will be managing the news and current affairs department of Palawan Daily News expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue serving his fellow Palaweños.
