TWO songs about island life entitle “Palawan” and “Linapacan” are now enjoying airtime online as they are performed by Palawenyas, the first one is a duo called “High Hello” a certified recording artist, and the latter is the launching of a budding songwriter from an island municipality in the north of Palawan.

Linapacan by Angeline Zumarraga Abina

Singing contest joiner Angeline Zumarraga Abina write and compose the song “Linapacan” that was first uploaded in Calamianes Island Group page in Facebook, is making rounds in thousands of views now due to the strong message it conveys about her beloved island town, and her being an eco-warrior.

“Ang inspiration ko po sa pag compose ng awiting iyon ay ang pagmamahal at concern ko po sa ating kalikasan, particular sa karagatan, bilang isang eco-warrior, nais ko pong imulat ang paningin ng marami lalo na po sa bayan ng Linapacan, na ang kabataan ay pag asa pa rin ng bayan,” Abina said.

20 year old Abina said that Linapacan is her debut song, the first ever she composed and her so far big break online. Albina was a consistent singing contest joiner in the past like Baragatan Videoke Challenge in 2017, Singing Idol El Nido in 2019, and Battle of Champion 2018 in her own town, Linapacan.

Abina is currently second year college student at Palawan State University taking up BS Fisheries.

High Hello sings Palawan

Viva recording artists and Awit Awards 2020 finalist Mara and Jaycen aka High Hello, release their second song “Palawan” last August 21 as a follow up to their first song “Pagsibol”, the song is their tribute to the province they call home for many years.

All the rhythm and sounds of Palawan according to Mara is how High Hello shows their signature, making it a trademark that whenever you see them, you will always told them that they are really from this province called Palawan.

“Sa pamamagitan ng song na “Palawan” hindi lang kami nagpapakilala, pero parang naibabahagi namin sa audience naming kung gaano kaganda ang Palawan, o parang nadadala na rin namin sila dito sa pamamagitan ng song,” Mara Rizada of High Hello said.

Palawan is now available in different music platforms online. Meanwhile, High Hello is set to perform online for Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino, and fingers crossed, for the upcoming Awit Awards Night on August 29 where their song Pagsibol is nominated for Best World Music Recoding.
