A group of young entrepreneurs in Palawan, recently launched Palawan BayaniJuan, a fund raising activity intended to help tourism workers in the province that are affected by the pandemic crisis. They aim to raise P250,000 cash to be converted as care pack consisting of rice, canned goods, instant noodles and toiletries.

Business partners Angela Tiotangco-Alvarez and Taryn Navarro oversee the fund raising, as a result of the messages they received coming from tour guides and boat operators asking for assistance. Since their project “Aloha Palawan” an annual travel event didn’t push thru this year, they decided to focus their attention in helping these tourism workers who lost financial capability during quarantine days.

“Right now, our first area will be in San Vicente and Coron. LGUs of each municipality is assisting us, they are the ones tapping the association and provide the list for us. Very helpful ang LGU sa amin. They’re the ones making sure na were following proper safety protocols like wearing mask and social distancing,” Alvarez said.

For now, they have no deadlines regarding the donations. They welcome as low as P50 cash that will be of great help. They are targeting 100 individuals per affected location and hoping to reach more far places in Palawan.

As of May 14, the group already collected P100,250 cash donations. They are accepting contributions via Paypal, GCash and Paymaya. For more details, visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/palawanbayanijuan.
