A new indie band composed of half-blooded Filipinos who are Palaweños are starting to penetrate the international music scene with their hip-hop/alternative pop funk music, they are called Verdant Clique compose of 9 artists united in sharing their talent and passion, and want to stay relevant through songs they create.
The unusual band with no specific musical instruments as designation have the following members, David Pablico aka Lil Tavid, Patrick Rivera aka SBG, R.F.P is Rauf Bustamante, Ranz Santos is Cisco, Constantine Velasco is KnG, Daniel Rivera aka Danxiety, and Lawrence Carpeso aka Latri$o that serve as the producer and mixing engineer.
“Verdant Clique is more of a collective and an indie label, and we are alternative which is our genre can vary between many genres, mostly rap, melodic rap, pop, pop funk, bedroom pop, etc,” Pablico said.
According to Pablico, he is the one who thought of forming the band, and the idea was form after living and working for a while in Germany, he invest first in putting a studio so they can work with their ideas and continue create music, before the pandemic strikes they were seen performing in Palawan State University, Bed and Breakfast of Chez Rose Bar, and Stellar Grounds in Puerto Princesa City.
“The group was created by me and some of my mates last year, I was working in Germany and I saw a lot of people who made it somewhere, so I had this idea to invest back in the Philippines since I saw that majority of the kids here has a big potential primarily because of their singing talent, so I gathered people who I think fits the criteria,” Pablico shared.
Verdant Clique first song “Fine” is now in YouTube and available in Spotify, Apple music store, Deezer and Tidal music platforms, they were also sign with Ditto music Philippines as their artist and was set to release another new single come August, plus a mix tape compilation of their past songs is also in the book for release.
