The Borneo Arts Festival, which showcases the colorful and rich tradition of indigenous music, dances, fashion shows of traditional ethnic costumes and visual arts of Borneo is being held at the Financial Park, Labuan, Malaysia on September 27-30, 2019.
The neighboring Asian countries such as Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, and the Philippines sent artists to participate in the art exhibit of the momentous event.
Several visual artists, musicians and a group of Palawan cultural heritage staff, headed by Rose Caabay, are representing the Philippines.
Mr. Leonard Ansiong of GUHIT Pinas – Palawan is presenting his artwork at the exhibit depicting the ethnic culture of the province as pride and heritage of the indigenous people of Palawan and the Philippines.
The members of his organization, mostly students of Palawan State University, sent artworks as entry to the visual arts’ competition.
Mr. Ansiong encouraged his co-delegates and participants through his short message that to continue being an inspiration to the community by showing their artworks that depicts the evolving growth and cultural heritage, and to participate in an international event.
“Una po sa lahat, in behalf of GUHIT Pinas Palawan and Palawan Visual Artist, we would like to thank, God for giving us this kind of talent, to the Organizers of Labuan, Malaysia, sa pag imbeta po nila sa amin, this will be our 3rd Borneo Art Festival po, where we will showcase different artworks of our fellow artist, and crafts po na gawa ng mga indigenous people natin. It’s an honor to represent the country at nakakainspire din po lalo na sa mga kasama naming mga batang artist na patuloy na hinahasa ang talento para ipakita sa ibang bansa ang sining at kultura ng Palawan,” said Leonard Ansiong.
The team was sent off on September 25, 2019.
