A free art tutorial for young Palaweño artists ages 12-18 years old would be conducted by the Palawan Provincial Culture and Arts Office on February 16 to 28 at the Palawan Heritage Center (PHC) inside the Capitol.
The art tutorial will feature known local artists around Palawan including PHC’s Leonard Ansiong who also stand as the president of Guhit Pinas – Palawan, Palawan visual artists; Shinkin Beguina of Draw me your Heart Art Club – Palawan and Palawan Senior Artist founder and president Jonathan Benitez of Art Collective who will act as mentors and coach for the upcoming art workshop.
Mayrose Palanca- Caabay of PHC, the said workshop is part of the celebration of the National Arts Month every February with the theme of “Sining ng Pag-asa.” Caabay said that the tutorial aims to intensify the drive of local young artist to encourage them to showcase their talents in terms of drawing, painting and other forms of artwork.
Caabay also said that their office coordinated with Kiwanis Club Damayan of Agila-Palawan in making the event possible. Both offices are inclined in supporting the youth and inspire them to make a livelihood through their arts and also to drive them on other forms of hobbies they could engage to amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The activity will be held for 8 days with 6 hours of art sessions each day. For interested participants, PHC said that they should bring their own art materials like crayons, sketch pad, watercolor, charcoal pencil and other art materials.
The registration for the said event will end on February 11 at PHC. Participants can also reach register through PHC’s Facebook Page (Palawan Heritage Center 2014).
