Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Lala Sotto-Antonio has warned vlogger Toni Fowler to stop dragging the agency’s name over her controversial “MPL” music video.

Sotto-Antonio said that Fowler’s MPL music video has no rating from the board and has not undergone proper screening from the MTRCB.

“Somebody who was part of the video had that the video was rated SPG (Strictly Parental Guidance). They should refrain from saying that because the SPG belongs to the classification system of the MTRCB,” Sotto-Antonio said. “Had it gone through the MTRCB, it would never have received an SPG. We would have given that an X rating,” she said.

To recall, it was February 15 when the content creator announced the release of her MPL music video which also features Freshbreed.

Following its release, Fowler received numerous backlash from netizens and parents saying that her music video is not meant for a  universal audience because of its explicit content.

Fowler’s pregnant co-star Papi Galang, was quoted in a news article from Bandera saying that the song ‘MPL’ and its music video were rated as STRONG PARENTAL GUIDANCE (SPG), prompting Sotto-Antonio to refute the claim.

“We appeal to Ms. Galang, to be circumspect in her statements, and for news organizations such as Bandera to practice responsible journalism by fact-checking their reports before publication, as the public may be led to believe that the MTRCB had given its highest allowable rating for airing content on television to the said material,” the board said.
