As of 3:18 PM Friday, May 13, 2022, presidential forerunner Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and vice-presidential forerunner Sara Duterte will be the next president and vice president of the Philippines with overwhelming electoral victory in 2022 synchronized national and local elections.
Marcos is expected to win by a landslide victory. He emerged victorious 36 years after the ouster of his father, President Ferdinand E. Marcos in an uprising in 1986 known as the People Power Revolution at EDSA.
Marcos obtained 31,104,175 votes representing 58.74 percent of voters, while Duterte got 31,561,948 votes or 61.29 percent.
The data is based on the Commission of Elections (COMELEC) transparency server’s unofficial-partial results based on real-time data obtained from the 98.35% precincts reporting as of May 13, 2022.
Next to Marcos were incumbent Vice President Leni Robredo with 14,822,051 votes, Senator Manny Pacquiao who obtained 3,629,805 votes, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso with 1,900,010 votes. Presidential candidates Senator Panfilo Lacson, Mangondato, Abella, De Guzman and Gonzales obtained less than 1 million votes.
Vice presidential forerunner and incumbent Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte obtained 31,561,948 votes, considered also as a very wide margin over her closest rival, Senator Kiko Pangilinan with 9,232,883 votes. In the vice-presidential race, Senate President Vicente Sotto III ranked third for obtaining 8,183,184 votes while Dr. Willie Ong got 1,851,498 votes. All other vice presidential bets garnered only less than 1 million votes.
As of Wednesday’s partial unofficial ranking, actor Robin Padilla leads the senatorial race with 26,428,433 votes followed by Antique Congressman Loren Legarda with 23,970,949 votes, broadcaster Raffy Tulfo with 23,148.257 votes. Other senatorial forerunners were Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, Congressman Allan Peter Cayetano, Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, former Senator JV Ejercito, Senator Riza Hontiveros, and former Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
However, the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) first partial, official results based on the eight certificates of canvass from Malabon and Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon showed former Vice President Jejomar Binay in the 12th place.
At the provincial level, Vice Governor Dennis Socrates defeated his closest rival, former Governor Joel T. Reyes in a six-way gubernatorial race in Palawan. Socrates obtained 190,191 votes while Reyes got 147,877 votes. Socrates’ running mate Board Member Leoncio Ola is the new vice governor of Palawan.
Edgardo Lim Salvame routed his three opponents in the congressional race in Palawan’s first district after obtaining 107,710 votes while his closest rival former congressman Tony ACA Alvarez got 85,733 votes. In Palawan’s second district, incumbent Palawan Governor Jose Chavez Alvarez who is gunning for a congressional seat emerged victorious after he defeated incumbent congresswoman Beng Abueg. In Palawan’s third district, former Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn defeated incumbent Congressman Atty. Gil Acosta Jr. in a two-way congressional race. Hagedorn garnered 80,325 votes while Acosta got 71,986 votes.
Mayor Lucilo Bayron renewed his mandate as Puerto Princesa City’s local chief executive after he defeated City Councilor Peter “Jimbo” Maristela and seven other mayoral candidates. Vice Mayor Nancy Socrates also emerged victorious in the vice gubernatorial race.
The newly elected and re-elected City Councilors of Puerto Princesa were Patrick Hagedorn, Raine Bayron, Luis Marcaida III, Feliboy Oliveros, Elgin Damasco, Jimmy Carbonell, Jonjie Rodriguez, Herbert Dilig, Nesario Awat, and Henry Gadiano.
