Mayor Alvarez brought to tears San Vicente town Mayor Amy Alvarez expressed her gratitude to the people for the trust and support they gave her and her party during the 2022 elections during their oath-taking. In her inaugural speech, Alvarez shared the challenges faced by her administration when she assumed office last 2019.
“The past three years of my administration has up and downs. It was a challenging term for me: the threat of COVID-19 Pandemic, the recent onslaught of typhoon Odette and lastly the consistent opposition and denials I got from the previous elected officials in spite of commitment to pursue the welfare of the general public. Hindi ako sumuko dahil sa pagmamahal at suporta niyo lahat ‘lumalaban ako at hindi nawala ang mga pangarap ko para sa San Vicente’ in spite of these challenges,” Alvares said.
She also announced that the LGU got the 2nd highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit (COA).
“Sa LGU mismo we receive the 2nd highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit and we also for the last two years wala akong notice of disallowance and the seal of financial house keeping from the DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government) for 2020.”
Alvarez, together with the newly-elected officials, vows to continue to sustain their vision for good governance with the word “Serbisyong Tapat at Dapat!” as she shed the light on what the opposition said about her during her 1st term.
“Anong sinabi nila na kinurakot ko yung mga mismanage of funds? I beg to differ ito ang resibo natin sa ‘Serbisyong Tapat at Dapat’ and I can keep it that way. With the support of the newly elected officials, I will continue to sustain our vision for good governance, inclusive growth, and sustainable development, we will continue to uphold the principles of transparency participation, and accountability, handling the people for their money and ensure every centavo is wisely spent towards genuine development,” she said “We will make sure that every resident has continued access to basic services. We will continue to strengthen our pandemic and disaster response, improve our social and health services, empower the youth, accelerate our infrastructure and tourism development, support the agricultural sector, preserve the environment, promote our rich culture, institutionalize good local governance ‘walang palakasan, walang paburan, walang abusado’ as we thread to the new path of progress,” the mayor underscored.
