18th Palay Festival ‘Pasiklaban’ Streetdancing Competition rocks Narra

As part of the 18th Palay Festival, the “Pasiklaban” Streetdancing Competition was held Friday, October 25.

The competition was participated by Tribu Bagsik from Palawan State University Narra supported by the clustered northern barangays of Narra, Tribu Babaylan coming from Narra National High School (NNHS), and Tribu Bitianon which represents the southern barangays of the municipality.

The three teams composed of dancers, musicians and coaches displayed their colorful costumes and skills in dancing and merrymaking in the streets of Narra particularly performing in the Narra Public Market compound and the Narra Sports Complex.

Tribu Babaylan, a known grand slam winner in the annual festival streetdancing competition, is composed of students from NNHS. Their performance depicted the Narra being the rice granary of Palawan and the continual good harvest and celebration of the annual Palay Festival.

Tribu Bagsik showcased the bountiful farming practice of local Narranian farmers while the Tribu Bitianon, in their comeback performance, reflected the success of local farmers and the benefit of agriculture in the lives of Narranian citizens.

In the end, the three group contenders managed to impress the judges and the audience but during the deliberation, Tribu Bitianon was adjudged as this year’s champion in the Pasiklaban Streetdancing Competition while Tribu Babaylan got the 1st place and Tribu Bagsik was proclaimed 2nd placer.

The local government unit (LGU) through Narra Mayor Gerandy Danao and the Sangguniang Bayan awarded each with corresponding trophies and cash prizes.

The Tribu Bitianon, on the other hand, will represent the municipality of Narra in the upcoming Subaraw Biodiversity Festival Streetdancing Compeition in Puerto Princesa City.
