Sixty-nine high school and college students participated in the Online Teenage Pregnancy Symposium conducted by the Palawan Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) on November 26.
With the theme “Maagang Pagbubuntis ay Iwasan, Isipin ang Kinabukasan,” the activity was attended by high school students from Agutaya and 3rd and 4th year college students from the Western Philippines University (WPU) Main Campus, who are taking up BS in Social Work.
It aims to provide information and create awareness on adolescent sexuality to prevent early pregnancy.
PSWDO Abigail Ablaña said that for their campaign to be effective, families, the government, churches, schools, and the community should work together to bring focus on this particular issue.
The symposium discussed facts about teenage pregnancy, reproductive health and disease, film show, and also included an open forum for the participants towards the end of the activity.
