The Brazilian family tourists from El Nido town which earlier showed novel corona virus-like symptoms are now isolated in Ospital ng Palawan (ONP) for further monitoring.
“Ang suspect patients from El Nido, arrived at ONP about 1:00 early this morning,” Dr. Mario Baquilod, regional director of DOH-CHD MIMAROPA confirms thru a text message.
Dr. Baquilod said that according to the attending physician, fortunately, the child’s fever had gone, although she still shows some respiratory symptoms.
They are still monitoring the status of the father who previously reported to have a sore throat.
The family came from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the new emerging coronavirus, because the mother of the ten-year-old kid is working in the said city.
Last Jan. 22, they flew to Manila and proceeded to El Nido on the next day for an island hopping.
But during the family’s supposedly happy vacation, yesterday, the child got a high fever while his father had complains on his throat, which are possible symptoms of 2019-nCoV, together with cough, and difficulty in breathing. Coincidentally, the mother showed no symptoms.
And after they put in isolation in a rural health unit in the Municipality of El Nido, the health personnel assessed their condition, and eventually brought them to DOH-run hospital in Puerto Princesa City, the Ospital ng Palawan (ONP) for further management, validation of their case and strict monitoring.
As of press time, the Palawan and the City of Puerto Princesa are still free from the threat of novel Corona virus (2019-nCoV) and aiming to maintaining it thru massive campaigns and precautionary measures.
