Capitol to give 2,500 food packs to residents affected by Storm Hanna

The provincial government of Palawan is set to distribute some 2,500 family food packs to four municipalities in northern Palawan, affected by storm Hanna last week.

Identified as beneficiaries were 1,000 in Culion, 500 each for Coron, Busuanga and Linapacan.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Abigail Ablaña said that even before the coming of Storm Hanna, their office have already prepared family food packs that is ready anytime, whenever it necessitates response activity during the time of calamities in any parts of the province.

“Ang bawat food pack ay naglalaman ng 10 kilong bigas, 6 na latang sardinas, 4 na latang corned beef, 12 sachet ng kape at 10 sachet na energy drink,” PSWDO said.

The PSWD Officer said that they are assisted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in their response activities/ relief goods distribution.

“Ang pagbibigay ng relief goods sa mga munisipyo ay emergency assistance lamang mula sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan. Ang pagtugon sa iba pang pangangailangan ng mga ito ay nasa pangunguna pa rin ng kanilang pamahalaang lokal na may direktang access sa mga residente. Ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ay handang tumugon sa pangangailangan ng bawat mamamayang Palaweño,” the provincial government of Palawan said in an statement.

Tropical Storm Hanna brought moderate to heavy monsoon rains experienced over the northern portion of Palawan, nearby Mindoro Provinces, Romblon, Aklan, and Antique.

Last week, residents in Palawan, were alerted by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of several level of rainfall warning since the weather bureau forecasted a heavy rains that might cause floods and rain-induced landslides in highly and very highly susceptible areas.
