The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) hold various technology forums and research caravans as part of the 2020 National Science and Technology Week celebration, in an effort to reach out more Filipinos through its new approach to promote science, technology, and innovations.
In an email from the DOST-MIMAROPA based in Taguig City through Project Assistant II, Charlotte F. Pizarras of the Science and Technology Promo Unit I, Technical Services Division, she said that the DOST also celebrated the 2020 National Science and Technology Week virtually for the first time.
She said that from November 9-19, 2020, they hold these technology forums and research caravans.
Among the highlights of the activity is the free virtual tour of DOST-MIMAROPA projects, programs, services, and facilities hosted last November 23-29.The DOST said that this is in line with the theme “Agham at Teknolohiya: Sandigan ng Kalusugan, Kabuhayan, Kaayusan at Kinabukasan”.
The DOST said that the virtual tour offers free access to different technology forums that will discuss the latest technologies and development in the areas of agriculture and aquaculture, food and nutrition, environmental management, and distance learning. A showcase of DOST-developed technologies that anchors the theme can also be found on the site.
“A 3D simulation of an exhibit booth allows visitors to learn more about the programs and services of DOST-MIMAROPA. Aside from the immersive feature, visitors will also experience a virtual walkthrough of its assisted projects and facilities. At the end of the tour, a virtual quiz also awaits visitors,” the DOST said in an email.
They explained that features of the tour site are designed for easy navigation and an immersive feel so everyone can participate in the activities. The interested visitors can visit the exhibit until December 31, 2020 through dostmimaropa2020nstw.com.
