Thirteen former New People’s Army (NPA) rebels received financial assistance from the provincial government of Palawan through Local Social Integration Program or LSIP.

Each of them received a P25,000 as livelihood assistance where eight of them received the amount on Tuesday, April 14 from Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Abigail Ablaña while the remaining got it on Wednesday, April 15.

In a release from Palawan Provincial Information Office, Ablaña said that the rebel returnees who received the assistance underwent thorough investigation conducted by the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines before it was recommended for financial assistance.

Aside from the cash assistance, PSWDO also helps the returnees to be included in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) of the Department of Interior and Local Government for additional financial assistance as well as to DSWD for other interventions.

Meanwhile, PSWDO is closely monitoring the said rebel returnees to ensure growth of their livelihood projects.
