The Municipal Government of Kalayaan released a press statement recently contradicting the rumors that their three patients from Bgy. Pag-asa Island are possible carriers of Coronavirus disease 2019.

According to the said statement, their first patient, based upon the diagnosis by a physician, has cholecystitis, the second one complains for hearing impairment and elevated blood pressure while the third one has an eye injury due to foreign objects.

“None of which were to be in line with the symptoms of the pandemic,” the press release reads.

Though the Local Government of Kalayaan confirms that the vessel from the City of Puerto Princesa came from an emergency voyage to bring patients from the Pag-asa Island, but they reiterate that the safety and security measures in the island are so strict that their own crew were not allowed to go down to the island.

“This is to ensure that the island would maintain a 0-0-0 record of PUM, PUI and even the confirmed cases.”

They are appealing to the public “to remain calm and not be enslaved with the culture of fear.”
