To help its vulnerable town members, the Sangguniang Bayan of Narra will launch tomorrow its “Pasabuy Program,” a measure to help senior citizens, parents, infants and persons with disabilities (PWDs) to easily purchase essential needs such as medicines, formula milk, vitamins, diapers and other supplies who are now on the brink of shortage in the municipality.

The said supplies will be purchased in Puerto Princesa City where it is available through the help of the Narra Local Government Unit (LGU) in collaboration with the Sangguniang Bayan.

The measure seeks to invite all members of the vulnerable sector to come up with their own list of needed supplies which will then be collected by staff of the local municipality and will be purchased by these staff in the city.

The Sangguniang Bayan Narra, through town councilor Christene Joy Mahilum who initiated the idea, said that it is vital that maintenance medicines of those who have underlying cases and other health issues as well as various infant needs should be prioritized amidst the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Fearing that there might be a threat of supply shortage in case the national government extends the ECQ period, Mahilum sponsored the “Pasa-Buy Program” which is now set to kick-off tomorrow.

It will be handled and managed by local staff of the LGU. Mahilum said that the municipal government will shoulder all transportation cost including fuel to the city and that the only thing residents will need to provide is their list of their essential needs and the money to purchase these items.

The program covers all Narranons in need of purchasing basic essential medicine and infant needs which is not available in the town and can only be bought in the city.

However, the councilor reminded that the only supply that may be accepted in the Pasabuy Program are maintenance medicines, multivitamins, formula milk for senior citizens, infants, and children.

Those who wishes to take advantage of the program may go to the New Narra Public Market tomorrow, April 3, starting from 9AM to 5PM.

Mahilum said that the supplies will be delivered door to door within two days after submission of the essential needs and money for purchase.
