Pagbuo ng grupo para sa assessment ng epekto sa ekonomiya ng COVID-19, tinalakay ng PIATF at PDRRMC

Posibleng bumuo ng grupo na siyang mangunguna sa assessment ng naging epekto ng COVID-19 sa ekonomiya ng Palawan base sa naging pagpupulong kahapon, ika-17 ng Hunyo 2021 ng Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) at Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).

Ayon kay Provincial Tourism Officer Maribel Buñi, patuloy ang kanilang pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga munisipyo at tourism establishments bagamat mayroong ilang mga munisipyo ang nagbabawal pa rin ng tourism-related activities.

“Tinitingnan din kasi natin yung pangkalahatang kapakanan. So incase na magbukas muli ang tourism industry, it should be subject to restrictions and protocols. Malaki kasi ang contribution ng turismo ng Palawan sa Gross Domestic Product ng bansa, kaya malaki rin ang epekto nito sa ating ekonomiya” aniya.

Sa naging pagpupulong ay tinalakay ang COVID-19 sa Palawan at napag-alamang 55% ang ibinaba ng aktibong kaso sa pagpasok ng Hunyo at nasa “low” ang kasalukuyang risk status ng lalawigan.

“Ilan sa reasons kaya bumababa ang kaso natin ay dahil sa pag-decrease ng inter-zonal travel and ‘yong border control sa mga munisipyo natin.” ayon kay Acting Provincial Health Officer Dr. Faye Erika Labrador.

Taliwas dito ay sinabi naman ni PDRRMO Head Jerry Alili na tumataas ang bilang ng mga nagpositibo sa Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) sa ilang munisipyo tulad ng Linapacan at Culion dahil sa “movement” ng mga residente at mangingisda na patuloy ang pagtungo sa ibang bayan upang maghatid ng kanilang produkto.

Samantala, asahan naman umano ang mga karagdagang RAT kits sa mga island municipalities ng Palawan.
