A total of 60 participants from the 23 municipalities of Palawan are participating in the on-going training which started on Monday, February 20 and will last until Thursday, February 23 at the VJR Hall of the provincial capitol.

PADAP/SPS CARES Program Manager Eduardo Modesto V. Rodriguez said that they are aiming to develop programs such as SBIRT in order to provide reliable and accurate screening test for drugs and substance abuse and evaluate potential cases of it in all towns in the province.

“Kailangan natin makita, matugunan, malaman at matukoy ang problema upang mabigyan ng karampatang aksyon at kung ano ang maibibigay na kalunasan upang patuloy na maiiwas sila sa droga. Ang training na ito ay magtuturo sa atin paano magamit ang mga tools para sa proseso,” Rodriguez said.

The event’s kick-off was attended by Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Joshua Bolusa who represented Gov. V. Dennis M. Socrates.

Bolusa expressed the importance of SBIRT and other anti-drug methods and its role in local communities.

“We already know that the drug problem is a pernicious problem and a very big problem in the country. The former administration took a different approach, we have tokhang that generated results, but as everyone now realized, this activity needs a whole of a nation approach, it needs everyone and everybody contributing a little bit but wholeheartedly towards the eradication of this problem,” Bolusa said.

With the theme,”Sugpuin iligal na droga, Palaweño’y aasenso, susulong sa progreso,” the program was made possible due to the combined efforts of the Provincial Government of Palawan, Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) and the Department of Health (DOH).
