The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) and the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) approved yesterday, April 13, the commendation to realign the PDRRMO’s fund amounting to P39,425,672.
According to a posted article of Provincial Information Office (PIO), the information-arm of the Provincial Government of Palawan, the realigned money came from the Disaster Preparedness Fund of the Provincial Disaster Risks Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) that was previously allocated for their projects this year.
The action of the members of both councils aimed to help sustain the operation of the Provincial Government of Palawan in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, PDRRM Officer Jeremias “Jerry” Alili said, as stated by the PIO-Palawan.
‘WELFARE GOODS’
Part of the salient uses of the said budget is to support the “Kusina sa Barangay” Project to be conducted the soonest with the help of Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) and all barangay LGUs concerned. The joint project hopes to every day provide rice and viand to the poor sector that includes the senior citizens, the sick, pregnant and the malnourished children of each barangay.
Alili explained that the counterpart of the Provincial Government of Palawan for the said project is allocating money for “Welfare Goods,” or the PGP will buy rice by using the P32,637,692 fund while the PSFI will handle the other needs. The P12,000,000 of this fund was originally allocated for Power Supply System and the P20,637,692 was originally allocated for buying of motor vehicles.
Also the P5,000,000 that was originally set aside for Other Structures will be used to buy Medical Equipment, while the P1,787,980 that was originally devoted for Repair and Maintenance of Building and Other Structures will be used to buy medicines.
The KSB Project was first endorsed to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan by Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial Federation President Ferdinand Zaballa earlier this month for the benefit of 367 barangays of the Province.
Ex-officio and Board Member Zaballa assured the Palaweños that they will immediately start the “Kusina sa Barangay” with the help of PSFI and the barangays and may last while the extended Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon is still in effect.
