Troops under the 18th Special Forces Company of the Philippine Army discovered an abandoned rebel lair in Sitio Tandanum, Brgy. Iraan, Rizal town on October 24.

The soldiers uncovered the buried remains of an alleged rebel fighter identified as Nelyn “Aldin” Emon in the area.

The said lair was the temporary shelter of the Communist NPA Terrorist under Jomar Masong alias Degret after they escaped the encounter with the Philippine Marines last September 03, 2020, at Brgy. Mainit, Brooke’s Point where the top 3 terrorist leaders of Kilusang Larangang Guerilla (KLG) Palawan were neutralized.

In the statement released by the 3rd Marine Brigade Commander, Col. Jimmy Larida, he said that the family doesn’t even know about the death of Aldin.

Larida shared that Aldin was purportedly wounded in an encounter with government troops in Brooke’s Point town and expired while fleeing.

Col. Larida reminded that it should be a lesson to the young generation that joining the New People’s Army will not give proper disposition in life.

On October 25, the troops transferred the remains of Emon from Sitio Tandanum, Brgy Iraan to Sitio Manggahan, Brgy Iraan where these were turned over to the victim’s mother and given proper burial rites.
