In line with their 47th Anniversary this coming March 2, the Tactical Operations Wing-West (TOW-WEST) of the Philippine Airforce (PAF) has conducted a whole-day bloodletting activity today for the benefits of Palaweños.

With the theme “Share love, Give blood, Save lives,” the TOW-WEST, earlier this month urged their members and all other concerned groups to donate blood, stressing that it is vital for the dengue and renal patients and other dependents. The blood transports macromolecules to the body, therefore, equally essential for the sustenance of life.

Around 45,000 cubic centimeters of blood has been collected from the bloodletting activity.

The event is in cooperation with the Team Wescom, a unified command of AFP in Palawan composed of Philippine Navy and Marines, Philippine Army, and of Philippine Airforce. It is also participated by the other agencies and non-government organizations namely Camp General Ricarte General Hospital Station, 6th Civil Military Group, 4th Air Reserve Center, 4th Air Reserve Center, ABAB Ladies Club, Philippine Coastguard,  Philippine Red Cross-Palawan Chapter, Palawan Motorcycles Organization (PMO), Robinson’s Place-Palawan, and JCI-Puerto Princesa Oil.

“Ang objective po nito is to generate blood for Palaweños, especially those patients of Ospital ng Palawan. Ito ay nakatutulong po ating mga kababayang nangangailangan, lalong-lalo na kung walang magbibigay sa kanila na volunteer na magbibigay sa kanila ng libreng dugo,” PAF-TOW-West spokesperson, 1Lt. Rufina Phain Sabello said in an interview with Palawan Daily News (PDN), earlier this morning.

She added that they usually conduct bloodletting activity during their anniversaries and even during ordinary days for which they do it quarterly or twice a year.

“Kami po na mga sundalo sa Palawan, kami po ay handing tumulong kahit kaninong Palaweños na nangangailangan, lalong-lalo na sa mga dugo, pwede naman kayong makipag-coordinate sa Civil Military Operations at kami naman po ay iko-coordinate namin sa PRC. Ito po ay ginagawa namin para lubos na makatulong sa mga Palaweños,” Sabello added.

In connection also of the 47th Anniversary of TOW-West, formerly known as “570th Composite Tactical Wing,” they will be having also a tree planting activity, outreach program and static display.

Meanwhile, this year’s unifying and strengthening celebration theme of TOW-West is “TOW West @47: Taking off as LEAD-ONE Air Sentinels for Peace and Development in the Western Frontier.”
