Youth lead cleanup drives in San Vicente

The Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President of San Vicente town on September 28, 2021 proudly shared during the Live Network Briefing News the initiative of the youth in the municipality in keeping the longest beach in the Philippines clean.

Mark Antony said that the engagement of the youth is important when it comes to keeping the surroundings clean and maintaining the environment healthy.

He added that after capacitating various youth organizations at the outset of the pandemic, these groups now are the ones who spearheading the cleanup drives on the beach.

He noted that since there are tourist hotspots in their municipality, it is vital that at a young age, they are aware of the need to care for the environment and the impact of a green community on the economy.

The San Vicente Long Beach is the longest white sand beach in the country with a length of 14 kilometers and is home to about 33,000 residents as of 2020, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
