The Palawan Provincial Government, with the approval of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, will establish radio communication systems in every barangay across the province in a bid to update residents on impending calamities and emergencies.

Board Member Ryan Maminta said radio has a wider scope and can easily reach even far-flung barangays.

The legislator further disclosed that each barangay and LGU in the province will receive basic cellphone, telephone, radio equipment and portable radio communications.

The recommendation was formally approved through Provincial Resolution No. 443-21 which is “Urging the twenty-three (23) municipalities and all barangays in the province of Palawan to establish a redundant communication system in their respective jurisdictions.”

Moreover, as support to the approved resolution, Maminta requested for Palawan Governor Jose Chavez Alvarez and Palawan Disaster Risk Reduction Management (PDRRMO) Chief Jerry Alili  to establish a centralized radio communication backbone and systems in Palawan through resolution No, 444-21.
