BFAR apprehends boat illegally fishing in Linapacan, Palawan

Officers from the Fisheries Protection and Law Enforcement Group of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources caught fishermen illegally fishing in the waters of Nangalao, Linapacan, Palawan, last Saturday, July 27.

In a report by the FPLEG Northern Palawan Station led by FR01 Chezter Carpio together with his team, PFO Rey Templonuevo and FR01 Mario Torres Jr, they were conducting seaborne patrol operation from Taytay, Palawan when they apprehended Fishing Banca “Delbert 3” in actual fishing operation at Nangalao using “paaling” or “lintig” with sixty-eight (68) crew onboard.

According to the BFAR, the fishermen violated R.A. 8550 as amended by R.A. 10654, Section 86 (Unauthorized Fishing), Section 95, which is using of active gear in municipal water, bays and other FMAs, Section 113, Commercial Fishing Vessel Operators Employing Unlicensed Fisherfolk, Fish Worker or Crew, and Section 121, Use of Unlicensed Gear.

The team confiscated more or less 10 tons (9,071 kilos) of Caesio spp or dalagang bukid.
