The Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) of the Philippine National Police hailed the MIMAROPA Police Regional Office as the “Best Police Regional Office in the Resolution of Homicide Cases Under Investigation” (HCUI) from July 1-16, 2018.
The PRO Mimaropa garnered 82.56% crime clear efficiency which caused them to be recognized as the Best Police Regional Office in index crime clearance efficiency rating with 76.76% for the year 2017.
Based on the data presented by DIDM, Police Regional Office MIMAROPA has cleared 1,317 out of 1,718 index crimes from January to December, 2017
The most prevalent index crime recorded during said period were Physical Injury with 564 incidents; Rape with 297. This also included cases such as Robbery with 276, Theft with 270; Murder with 167, Carnapping with 92, as well as Homicide with 42 and Cattle Rustling with 10.
Index crimes are defined as crimes which are serious in nature with sufficient frequency. It involves crimes against person/s such as murder, homicide, physical injury and rape and crimes against property such as theft, robbery, carnapping and cattle rustling.
It is considered cleared when at least one of the offenders has been identified, there is evidence to charge him, and, has been charged. It also included solved cases.
Regional Director Police Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup, thanked Police Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor for his exemplary supervision displayed during his stint as the Regional Director of MIMAROPA, which has effectively turned the seeming surging tide of crime occurrence in MIMAROPA region.
Further, P/Chief Supt. Licup congratulated all unit commanders for seriously undertaking their various anti-criminality operations and Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) which resulted in a high state of orderliness in the community.
Licup assured the public that under his leadership, Police Regional Office MIMAROPA will continue its effort in the resolution of cases creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the region.
P/Supt. Harold Ramos, Officer-In-Charge of the RegionaI Investigation and Detective Management Division, received the said award on July 20, 2018 during the DIDM Family Conference held at Millenia Suites, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
