The MIMAROPA Regional Police Office (RPO) Saturday evening has released its official statement on the “relief order” of former Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Chief PCOL Marion Balonglong.

PLTCOL Imelda Vasquez Tolentino, the RPO Public Information Officer (PIO) in a statement sent to the media Saturday, June 13, stated it was National PNP Chief, Police General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, who ordered Balonglong’s administrative relief.

She said this was after Balonglong has been allegedly involved in a maltreatment incident of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) personnel.

“The allegations against Balonglong are serious and his relief is an administrative action to preclude any possibility of undue influence in the ongoing investigation,” Vasquez quoted Gamboa.

Vasquez stated in the same press statement that Gamboa transmitted his instructions to PRO-MIMAROPA Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Nicerio Obaob, toward the relief order’s immediate effect.

Vasquez said Obaob assured Gamboa that a thorough investigation will be conducted upon all the allegations against Balonglong.

Vasquez said that according to Obaob, this investigation will be based on “evidence and verified accounts of witnesses”.
