The Palawan Provincial COMELEC, in its latest data, recorded a total of 665,396 registered voters including the City of Puerto Princesa in connection with the upcoming Local and National Election.

According to Provincial COMELEC Spokesperson Jomel Ordas, as of September 13, 2021, 130,730 applications for voters registration from municipalities and the city have been received by their office.

Of this number, 86% were from activation and transfer applications since the start of the registration period in August 2019.

Ordas also said that in the remaining 15 days of the voter registration, the number of applications is expected to increase.

“Hinihikayat natin ang lahat ng mga mamamayan ng Palawan na kwalipikadong bumoto sa eleksyon na magparehistro na at huwag na pong hintayin ang mga huling araw upang hindi na dagsain ang ating mga opisina sa mga munisipyo gayundin ang mga satellite registration,” he said.

On the other hand, implementing the health protocols is a big challenge for the Provincial COMELEC because the regulations will be different from the previous registrations and elections.

The COMELEC also issued an additional statement avoiding the influx of people into their offices in the upcoming filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) by candidates on October 1 to 8 this year.
