Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Usec. Gerald Bantag made a surprise visit Friday morning to Iwahig Corrections Facility (ICF).
The move is seen to boost the morale of the newly-installed head, Chief Superintendent Raul Levita, and all the facility personnel following the controversy that happened last month involving two officers.
Information Officer and Corrections Technical Officer II Levi Evangelista said that the visit will help them a lot. “Tiningnan n’ya lang and para i-boost ang morale ni Supt. Levita at naming lahat na ganito ang gawin natin despite of what had happened,” Evangelista said in an interview.
General Bantag also conducted facility inspection from the administration building up to the view deck, even checking the Balsahan River.
“Lahat tiningnan ni Director hanggang sa kasuluk-sulukan ng catering services pati ang way ng pag-serve ng foods sa PDL’s kung maayos ba and he is happy sa nakita n’ya at pinuri n’ya rin ang kagandahan ng Iwahig,” Evangelista also said.
The BuCor Director will prioritize the deployment of additional personnel to ICF and secure all the necessary equipment just in case there is a need to transfer more inmates from the New Bilibid Prisons.
“Gusto n’ya muna na bago s’ya magpadala (PDL’s) ay may sapat na personnel to guard the inmates and syempre dapat magiging maayos ang lagay nila dito bago n’ya ipadala like detention cells, higaan and mga kakailanganin nila,” Evangelista added.
Bantag also checked other areas inside ICF which can be developed into tourist destinations aside from Balsahan River.
“Pagdating sa Quarter 1 ay nakita n’ya at sabi n’ya ay magba-bangka s’ya at gusto n’ya i-develop ang area na ‘yun as another attraction inside ICF which will help the promotions ng city sa tourism,” narrated Evangelista.
In general, Evangelista said that they were very happy with the reaction and compliment they got from the BuCor Director during his visit.
